o r i c u n i , o m a r e r a r i t a t e . N i c i D o m n u l I i s u s H r i s t o s n u a putut s m u l g e aceasta
buruiana a iadului din inimile contemporanilor L u i . Nici Sfintul Apostol Pavel,
care c u atita g r i j a s - a acoperit c u v a i u l s m e r e n i e i : „cel m a i m i c i n t r e o a m e n i
f i eel m a i m a r e d i n t r e toti p a c a t o f i i , n u a r e u s i t a c e a s t a .
D e azi i n a i n t e r a m i i s i n g u r , iubite sot, d a r n u s t i n g h e r . M a r e p a r t e d i n i n i m a
sotiei tale d r a g i s - a topit fi a r a m a s i n i n i m a t a . N u f t i u d a c a r a p o s a t a v a fi
a v u t f i auz m u z i c a l . C e r t este c a toata v i a t a ei a fost u n c i n t e c ales spre m i n -

DESPRE POST

A v o r b i despre post a c u m , s - a r p a r e a u n l u c r u foarte i n d r a z n e t p e n t r u c a

l u m e a c r e f t i n a de azi respecta tot m a i p u t i n p o s t u r i l e b i s e r i c e s t i . D a r postul c a r e
este afezat de D u m n e z e u c a o lege v e s n i c a ( L e v i t i c 16, 29) n u s i - a p i e r d u t n i c i
scopul, n i c i v a l o a r e a , deoarece postul este c u totul a l t c e v a decit n e m i n c a r e a . E s t e
c u totul a l t c e v a c i n d d i n c r e d i n t a f i d i n dragoste fata de D u m n e z e u c r e f t i n u l
respecta postul fi aduce p r i n a c e a s t a o o f r a n d a , o j e r t f a b i n e p l a c u t a l u i D u m n e z e u ,
asa d u p a c u m , c a pe o o f r a n d a , c a pe o j e r t f a b i n e p l a c u t a l u i D u m n e z e u . aduce
creftinul fi rugaciunea fi milostenia.
D e c i postul este cu totul a l t c e v a decit n e m i n c a r e a d i n l i p s a , s a u c i n d d i n
motive de b o a l a , m e d i c u l n e p o r u n c e f t e s a t i n e m u n r e g i m , s a u c i n d t i n e m o dieta,
p e n t r u p a s t r a r e a f r u m u s e t i i fizice.
C i n e se lipsefte de h r a n S d i n m o t i v e s a n i t a r e s a u estetice f i n u d i n m o t i v e
religioase, a c e l a n u poate spune c a postefte. S i g u r c a i n f r i n a r e a de l a m i n c a r e si
de i a b a u t u r a este f i u n m i j l o c de a e l i b e r a pe om de l a c o m i e , c a r e este u n pacat
c u u r m a r i foarte g r a v e , ce afecteaza n u n u m a i s u f l e t u l , ci f i f r u m u s e t e a , s a n a t a t e a
f i i n t e g r i t a t e a t r u p u l u i . C e i ce n u este c u m p a t a t si se l a s a s t a p i n i t de o pofta
a e r a t i o n a l a de a m i n c a f i b e a peste m a s u r a s u f e r a „de o b u h a i a i a m o n s t r u o a s a ,
de o u m f l a r e b o l n a v i c i o a s a — c u m se e x p r i m a a i a t u r i de a l t i o a m e n i l u m i n a t i
f i u n m a r e teolog al B i s e r i c i i noastre. A n t i d o t u l i m p o t r i v a acestor e x t e n s i u n i
patologice este p o s t u l " . '
D a r i n f r i n a r e a , c u m p a t a r e a , postul, n u m a i d i n motive trupefti, p a m i n t e f t i ,
l u m e s t i , n u are n i c i o v a l o a r e d u h o v n i c e a s c a . A s t f e l de post n u te i n v r e d n i c e f t e
de n i c i u n d a r sufletesc fi d u m n e z e i e s c . A c e s t post, a d i c a n e m i n c a r e a d i n m o t i v e
de b o a i a , d i n l i p s a , s a u p e n t r u c a s a n e u f u r e z e de p r e a m u l t a g r a s i m e ce s - a
a d u n a t pe coapsele noastre, n u poate fi a s e m a n a t n i c i o d a t a c u s f i n t u l f i d u m n e -
z e i e s c u l post, afezat de D u m n e z e u .
S f i n t u l post afezat de D u m n e z e u p e n t r u c r e d i n c i o f i , m a i p r e s u s de orice
m o t i v e p a m i n t e f t i s a u l u m e f t i , i f i are v a l o a r e a l u i , s c o p u l l u i i n a l t , sfint, c u r a t ,
luminat, ceresc, dumnezeiesc.
P o s t u l este o a r m a , c e a m a i s f i n t a f i p u t e r n i c a a r m a , i m p o t r i v a d i a v o l u l u i ,
d u p a c u m ne s p u n e M i n t u i t o r u l (Matei 17, 21), d a r si o j e r t f a c u r a t a , b i n e c u v i n t a t S
f i p i a c u t a l u i D u m n e z e u , pe c a r e c r e f t i n u l de b u n a v o i e , n e s i l i t de v r e o c a u z a
e x t e r n a , o aduce l u i D u m n e z e u , p e n t r u i e r t a r e a p a c a t e l o r l u i f i p e n t r u i z b a v i r e a
d i n m u l t e s u f e r i n t e fi n e c a z u r i .
P o s t u l este u n m i j l o c de p u r i f i c a r e a t r u p u l u i f i a s u f l e t u l u i , de i l u m i n a r e ,
de i n a i t a r e s p i r i t u a i a si de a p r o p i e r e de D u m n e z e u .

N i m e n i n u se poate a p r o p i a de D u m n e z e u , n u - L poate gasi pe D u m n e z e u
n u m a i pe c a l e teoretica, n u m a i p r i n t r - o c u n o a f t e r e r a t i o n a i a . P e D u m n e z e u 11 ga-
sefti, <W. D u m n e z e u te po^i a p r o p i a m a i ales p r i n fapte, p r i n t r a i r e , pe c a l e a
,,experientei d i r e c t e " , c u m se e x p r i m a u n m a r e ginditor religios,^ pe c a l e a e x p e -
rientei practice.
P o s t u l , r u g a c i u n e a f i m i l o s t e n i a s i n t m i j l o a c e l e cele m a i directe, p r i n c a r e
c r e f t i n u l se poate a p r o p i a de D u m n e z e u , I l poate gasi pe D u m n e z e u .
P r i n aceste m i j l o a c e m u l t i a u a j u n s l a c u n o a f t e r e a l u i D u m n e z e u , m u l t i L - a u
aflat pe D u m n e z e u , acolo u n d e D u m n e z e u se gasefte i n t o t d e a u n a , i n i n i m a ta, i n
s u f l e t u l t a u . D e aceea f i t u n u m a i d u p a ce, pe c a l e a a c e a s t a a ,,experientei d i r e c t e "
v e i s i m t i p r e z e n t a l u i D u m n e z e u , I l v e i gasi pe D u m n e z e u f i pe c a l e teoretica,
a d i c a , i n l u m e a m a t e r i a i a , d i n a f a r a , i n t a i n i c e l e legi ale f i r i i , i n u n i v e r s u l ce n e
i n c o n j o a r a , despre c a r e , orice m i n t e l u m i n a t a este i n c r e d i n t a t a c a n u este p u s t i u ,
c i este populat c u i n f i n i t e forme de v i a t a , m a t e r i a i a fi s p i r i t u a i a . ? i , c a acest
u n i v e r s , este s t a p i n i t f i condus de o p u t e r e m a i p r e s u s de orice putere, de o
f i i n t a m a i p r e s u s de orice f i i n t a , pe c a r e i n g r a i o m e n e s c obifnuit, o n u m i m c o n -
ventional, Dumnezeu.
P o s t u l n e a j u t a s a d o b i n d i m c u r a t e n i a t r u p u l u i fi m a i ales c u r a t e n i a s u f l e -
t u l u i , c a r e este u n a d i n conditiile de a v e d e a pe D u m n e z u , d u p a c u m n e - a spus
i n s u f i M i n t u i t o r u l , z i c i n d : „Fericiti cei c u r a t i c u i n i m a , c a a c e i a v o r v e d e a pe
D u m n e z e u " (Matei 5, 8).
„Prin t r a n s p a r e n t a s a , a d i c a p r i n s t a r e a pe c a r e o c r e a z a i n s u f l e t u l c r e f t i -
n u l u i asceza, c r e f t i n u l v e d e pe D u m n e z e u fi se u m p l e de v i a t a c o n s i s t e n t a a l u i
Dumnezeu." '
P o s t u l este m i j l o c u l eel m a i s i m p l u , eel m a i d i r e c t fi eel m a i eficient de a te
a p r o p i a de D u m n e z e u . E l , p o s t u l , te pregatefte, te I n t a r e f t e sufletefte, i t i a j u t a
f i r e a s a te poti r u g a , sa poti c o n t e m p l a , s a - t i poti t r a n s f o r m a f i i n t a , s a te poti
e l i b e r a de f a r a d e l e g i fi de pacate, sa te poti d a r u i c u a d e v a r a t s l u j i r i i l u i D u m -
n e z e u , s a poti iefi d i n i z o l a r e , d i n n e p a s a r e , d i n s t a r e a de egoism f i r S c e a i a
s p i r i t u a i a , s a te poti i n s u f l e t i f i a p r i n d e c u d u h u l , s a te poti j e r t f i f i p e n t r u m i n -
tuirea fratilor tai, a semenilor tai, a oamenilor.
P o s t u l i t i c r e e a z a o s t a r e siifleteasca deosebita, p e n t r u a - L p u t e a l a u d a pe
D u m n e z e u , p e n t r u a p u t e a v o r b i despre D u m n e z e u f i p e n t r u a p u t e a s l u j i l u i
Dumnezeu cu vrednicie.
C u b u r t a p l i n a , n i m e n i , n i c i o d a t a , n u poate cugeta l a l u c r u r i i n a l t e , l a l u c r u r i
sfinte, l a l u c r u r i s p i r i t u a l e . n i c i n u poate i n d e p l i n i o l u c r a r e i n t e l e c t u a i a de
valoare.*

C u n o s c i n d m a i p r o f u n d decit o r i c i n e v a l o a r e a f i r o s t u l p o s t u l u i , M i n t u i t o r u l
postind. E l m a i i n t i i , p a t r u z e c i de zile f i p a t r u z e c i de nopti i n pustie (Matei 4, 2),
p r i n aceasta d i n d u - n e u n s t r a l u c i t e x e m p l u f i d e s c o p e r i n d l u m i i ce i m p o r t a n t a
m a r e a r e p o s t u l p e n t r u v i a t a s p i r i t u a i a , n e - a dat d u p a a c e a s t a f i o pVetioasa
i n v a t a t u r a despre post, c a f i despre r u g a c i u n e f i m i l o s t e n i e (Matei 6, 1—31), c a r e ,
repet, s i n t m i j l o a c e l e cele m a i sfinte f i n e d e s p a r t i t e , p r i n c a r e p u t e m ciftiga i m -

D i n e x e m p l u l f i i n v a t a t u r a D o m n u l u i despre post, c r e f t i n u l i n v a t a c a acesta
este u n d u m n e z e i e s c m i j l o c de p u r i f i c a r e , i l u m i n a r e f i t r a i r e i n c o m u n i u n e c u
D u m n e z e u f i c u toti s f i n t i i .
P o s t u l a fost afezat de D u m n e z e u c l i i a r de l a inceput, d i n r a i , p r i n c u v i n t u l
f i p o r u n c a pe c a r e a d a t - o l u i A d a m , c i n d a z i s : „Din toti p o m i i d i n r a i poti s a
maninci, i a r din pomul cunoftintei binelui fi raului s a n u maninci, caci, i n ziua
i n c a r e v e i m i n c a d i n e l , v e i m u r i n e g r e f i t " ( F a c e r e 2, 16—17).
A c e s t c u v i n t este m a i ales t e m e l i a p o s t u l u i sufletesc, d a r tot de l a inceput
a fost r i n d u i t de D u m n e z e u f i p o s t u l e e l t r u p e s c .
Z i l e l e de post t r u p e s c , pe c a r e B i s e r i c a l u i H r i s t o s n e i n d e a m n a s a le t i n e m ,
cunoscute de n o i , i n c a r e c r e f t i n u l se h r a n e f t e n u m a i c u roadele p a m i n t u l u i , sint
zile sfinte de r e i n t o a r c e r e l a v i a t a pe c a r e A d a m a t r a i t - o i n p a r a d i s , i n a i n t e
de a c a d e a I n p a c a t . P e n t r u c a , d u p a c u m ne spune S f i n t a S c r i p t u r a ( F a c e r e 1, 29):

D e s p r e toate acestea v o r b e f t e S f i n t a S c r i p t u r a f i zice: „Apoi a zis Dummezeu:
l a t a v a d a u toata i a r b a ce face s a m i n t a de pe fata p a m i n t u l u i , a d i c a c e r e a l e l e ,
si tot p o m u l ce a r e r o d c u s a m i n t a I n t r - i n s u l , a d i c a fructele. A c e s t e a v o r fi h r a n a
v o a s t r a " ( F a c e r e 1, 29).
„Acestea, a d i c a roadele p a m i n t u l u i , v o r fi h r a n a v o a s t r a " , a p o r u n c i t D u m n e -
z e u p r o t o p a r i n t i l o r n o f t r i . A c e a s t a p o r u n c a a l u i D u m n e z e u este t e m e l i a p o s t u l u i
c r e f t i n , t r u p e s c , pe c a r e i m p r e u n a c u p o s t u l eel sufletesc i l r e s p e c t a f i a z i toti
cei ce i n a n u m i t e zile se i n f r i n e a z a f i n u g u s t a n i m i c i n a f a r a de roadele p a m i n -

(I C o r . 7, 5), i n s f i n t e n i e f i i n fapte de m i l o s t e n i e , i n pace f i i n dragoste de s e m e n i ,
d a r f i fata de toate c r e a t u r i l e l u i D u m n e z e u , l u p t i n d u - s e s a n u r i s i p e a s c a n i m i c ,
s a n u m u r d a r e a s c a n i m i c , s a n u d i s t r u g a f a r a rost n i m i c d i n tot ce-1 I n c o n j o a r a .
P r i n post n o i ne e l i b e r a m de tot ceea ce este s t r i c a c i o s f i v r e m e l n i c f i n e
p r e g a t i m c u s u f l e t u l f i c u t r u p u l p e n t r u ceea ce este n e s t r i c a c i o s f i v e f n i c .
U n o r a l i se p a r e c a p o s t u l este u n l u c r u m a r u n t f i n e i n s e m n a t p e n t r u v i a t a
c r e f t i n a . D a r d a c a a r i n c e r c a s a - I p r a c t i c e , a t u n c i a r v e d e a c a postul este u n
l u c r u deosebit de i m p o r t a n t f i sfint p e n t r u v i a t a I n g e n e r a l , p e n t r u v i a t a d u h o v n i -
ceasca i n special.
C e i ce p r i v e f t e m a i atent p o s t u l v e d e c a acesta este c a u n m u n t e sfint a l
c a r u i v i r f se r i d i c a p i n a l a c e r , f i o r i c i n e u r e a acest m u n t e , atinge p e r f e c t i u n e a
f i i n t r a i n c e r u l eel d u h o v n i c e s c .

V i a t a d u h o v n i c e a s c a f i h a r u l l u i D u m n e z e u se i m p u t i n e a z a , c r e d i n t a se racefte,
dragostea f i m i l a n u m a i i n c a i z e f t e i n i m i l e o a m e n i l o r .
A c e s t e a f i alte Tirmari g r a v e p e n t r u v i a t a c r e f t i n a , p e n t r u v i a t a d u h o v n i c e a s c a ,

C u n o s c i n d toate acestea c r e f t i n u l intelept, c r e f t i n u l c a r e a r e cuget sSnatos

Deci Sfintii Parinti, ca fi cuvintul lui Dumnezeu din Sfinta Scriptura (Isaia

acea iubire activa, t r a n s f o r m a t a i n fapte c a : „a h r a n i pe eel f i a m i n d , a a d a p a pe
